Stephen Bloom, of Cumberland County, was elected to represent the citizens of the 199th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in November 2010.  A practicing lawyer for more than 20 years,his mission as a lawmaker is to cut the size and scope of government, reduce the burden of taxes and unnecessary regulation, protect and defend constitutional freedoms, and by doing those things, unleash the power of individuals and businesses to create and grow sustainable jobs and economic prosperity.

Bio

A graduate of Penncrest High School in Media, Delaware County, Bloom received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and rural sociology (resource economics option) from The Pennsylvania State University in 1983 and graduated from The Dickinson School of Law in 1987.  He earned membership in the Woolsack Honor Society at Dickinson.

Bloom was the founder and first president of the Estate Planning Council of Cumberland County.  He served as president of the Downtown Carlisle Association, Carlisle Jaycees and Carlisle Early Education Center.  He was treasurer of the Greater Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce and Christian Services Counseling Center. He now serves as treasurer of Sonpower Ministries. Previously he served on the boards of Birthright of Carlisle, the Salvation Army of Carlisle and the Greater Carlisle Area Council for Excellence. His memberships include the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Cumberland County Bar Association and the Christian Legal Society.

Stephen is an active member of the Carlisle Alliance Church. He authored the book, “The Believer’s Guide to Legal Issues,” and has written a number of published articles.

Born in Manhasset, New York, on October 10, 1961, Bloom moved to Pennsylvania as a child.  Today, he lives in North Middleton Township with his wife, Sharon.  They have three children, Nick, Anna and Katy.

Stephen Bloom, of Cumberland County, was elected to represent the citizens of the 199th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in November 2010.  A practicing lawyer for more than 20 years, now of counsel with the Carlisle firm of Irwin & McKnight, P.C., Bloom focuses on business and transactional matters. He is also an adjunct instructor of management and business at Messiah College, where he teaches economics and business law.

His mission as a lawmaker is to cut the size and scope of government, reduce the burden of taxes and unnecessary regulation, protect and defend constitutional freedoms, and by doing those things, unleash the power of individuals and businesses to create and grow sustainable jobs and economic prosperity.
